FY 2007 Audit Instructions

12.  PRINTING A SUMMARY REPORT

You will probably want to print a report after entering and (optionally) cleaning your data.

Please note that if you entered data into a Local Option Question, you may wish to first modify the AUDIT07.RPT file so that the results of your question appear on the report -- see bottom half of section 9: "Modifying the Report File"

To print a report, go to Epi Info's main menu and select ANALYSIS from the listing of Programs. Put your data file into the ANALYSIS program by typing:

READ AUDIT07.REC <ENTER>

Next turn on your printer, then press the <F5> key. A message should appear that says "ROUTE PRINTER", meaning that the output from the ANALYSIS program will be sent to your printer (if you wish to have the output appear only on your computer screen, skip this step).

Finally, type:

RUN AUDIT07.PGM <ENTER>         (typing the ".PGM" extension is optional here).

The computer will immediately begin to analyze your data, and then will print the report (or simply display it on your screen, if you did not push <F5>).

Please note that with some networked or newer printers, especially those using USB connections, Epi Info will fail to recognize the printer and no printing will occur, even after pressing <F5> to route output to the printer. This is an increasingly frequent occurrence.  If this should occur, use the following sequence of commands to route the report to a text file:

READ AUDIT07.REC
ROUTE filename.TXT    (where filename is any name of 8 characters or less)
RUN AUDIT07.PGM

Now exit Epi Info entirely. Go to MS Word, and open the text file (it will be found in the C:\EPI6 folder, generally). Edit the document as necessary to make sure the page breaks occur in the proper places, etc, and then print the document in the usual manner from MS Word.
